What Is Radiofrequency (RF) Procedure?

Radiofrequency (RF) Procedure or RF delivers targeted heat to the deeper layers of the skin and has been used in dermatology for decades to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating new collagen production.

For dry eyes, Eye Studio uses a custom designed hand piece on both the upper and lower eyelids that delivers targeted heat to the meibomian glands. This melts away any blockages and greatly enhances their function and in turn relieves dry eye symptoms.

What to Expect During Treatment

Prior to the treatment, gel will be applied to the treatment area. During the treatment, the hand piece will deliver heat to the upper and lower eye lids separately. This will be massaged back and forth along the eyelid area. The sensation is similar to that of a hot stone massage. The treatment zone will be treated for about 10 minutes. We recommend 4 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart for best results.

Post-Procedure Care

Since RF is a safe and non-invasive in-office procedure, you may return to daily activities right after the treatment. Typical responses may include redness around the treatment area and mild swelling that may last for a few hours. After treatment, we recommend moisturizing and to avoid extra heat in the treatment zone. RF works very quickly and patients may notice relief within 1-2 days of the first session.
